2026 Boise Front Trail Festival - An Asterisked First Place 🥇

The Boise Front Trail Festival race is among my favorites in the Treasure Valley because I enjoy trail running more than road running. The race takes place at Bogus Basin, and proceeds are donated to Ridge to Rivers.

The 2026 course was an improvement over last year’s. Most of the trail this year was single track, and the views were better. The air quality has been horrendous due to fires, but thankfully, compared to recent days, it was much improved during the race.

Before the race, I was considering running the 10-mile course instead of the 5-mile course, but stuck with the 5-mile because I hadn’t been running as much due to travel. During the 1000-foot climb, I was relieved that I was running the 5-mile. Now that I’m at home and comfortable, though, I want to run the 10-mile race next year.

I placed 11th out of 135 runners and 1st in my age category due to a technicality. My age-group nemesis finished third overall, and there was no double-dipping for awards, so I was awarded first place in my age group.

Thanks to Fleet Feet, Boise Running, and the volunteers for putting on the race.

Happy Trails!
