On my last day in Ho Chi Minh City I went to the War Remnants Museum. The disturbing stories and photographs on exhibit drive home the brutality of war and its civilian victims. The museum describes the My Lai Massacre and other atrocities that Americans committed during the war, and details the continued consequences of Agent Orange and unexploded ordnances. The exhibits are factually correct but one-sided, with no effort at objectivity. The museum was once known as the “Museum of Chinese and American War Crimes”, which reflects the intention of the museum’s curators.
