Cambodia - Angkor Archaeological Park - Bayon

Angkor Archaeological Park

Angkor was the capital of the Khmer Empire, which flourished from the 9th to 15th centuries. With a population of one million people, Angkor was the largest pre-industrial city in the world. Angkor Archaeological Park contains the greatest concentration of architectural riches on earth. From sunrise to sunset, I explored six temples, including the three most iconic Temples of Angkor: Angkor Wat, the world’s largest religious building; Ta Prohm, nicknamed the Tomb Raider temple; and Bayon, a surreal temple with enormous, smiling faces.
