Ecuador - Banos - Tungurahua Volcano

Baños, nestled in the Andean highlands near the Tungurahua volcano, is known as the adventure capital of Ecuador. I stayed at a campsite in nearby Rio Verde, named after the clear green water of the river that flows through the town. I enjoyed two adventure activities in Ecuador’s adventure capital: trekking to the Devil’s Cauldron (El Pailon del Diablo) waterfall and white-water rafting. I also spent some time walking around Baños, which is popular with Ecuadorians for its hydrothermal springs, plentiful bars and restaurants, and sugar cane taffy.
